Having started my career 23 years ago supporting adults with learning disabilities and mental health conditions, I have worked my way up from support worker, to senior support worker, deputy manager and then to home manager.
I feel very passionate about my team, their development, and the way that they support the people living at Buttermere House.
I have an open-door policy and encourage the team to support and be there for each other as teamwork makes the happiest home for the people we support.
Our son has lived at Buttermere House for more than six years now, and he has been very happy there. He interacts well with other residents and with staff, and we think has come to view the house as his second home and enlarged family! Members of the care team have been brilliant over the years - getting to know our son, learning how to communicate with him, seeing to his basic needs, but then also ensuring that he is happy and entertained. We are so grateful to all of them for their professionalism, their understanding and their caring, cheerful commitment. We are thoroughly supportive of the group restructuring which has taken place in the latter half of 2021. Not only has this resulted in a higher proportion of permanent staff at Buttermere House, but it has also prompted a significant and very pleasing improvement in the management of the unit and of the company itself.
